WCC Bear Necessities After-School Program

Our students recently enjoyed an engaging, hands-on learning experience at Pioneer Village in Searcy, Arkansas, where history truly came to life! Through storytelling, demonstrations, and interactive exploration, our students gained a deeper appreciation for Arkansas history and the traditions that shaped our community.

We are incredibly grateful to the wonderful volunteers and staff at Pioneer Village who welcomed our students with kindness, knowledge, and enthusiasm. Their passion for preserving history and educating young people made this experience meaningful and memorable for everyone involved.

Pioneer Village will soon be hosting their Spring Open House with free admission, and donations are greatly appreciated to help support their continued work in preserving local history and providing educational opportunities for students and families.

We encourage our community to go out and support this amazing organization. They truly make learning come alive for our students, and we are thankful for the partnership they provide to our Bear Necessities program!

WCC’s Youth Shooting Sports team competed at the North Regional tournament this weekend. The Junior team shot yesterday. Not pictured here, but they displayed grit and determination through the wind and rain.
The Senior team shot against 133 other squads in the region today. One of our 3 squads finished in 6th place, breaking 230/250 targets! The top 16 squads in the region advance to the State Tournament, and one of them is our very own! Out of this group, two young men-Lucas Reynolds, and Everett Melton, shot 50 out of 50 straight targets! Only 8 out of 582 shooters achieved that today. As we say, it is a great day to be a Bear!

Congratulations to Madalyn Johnson and Giselle Perez on their selection to be honored at the Governor's Scholastic Honors Day on May 2, 2026 at the Governor's Mansion in Little Rock. The Governor's Scholastic Honors Day recognizes Arkansas' best and brightest students, as high schools around the state select two students in their senior class who best represent excellent academic achievement. Madalyn and Giselle will represent our school and the graduating class of 2026! Congratulations to both of these seniors for their academic excellence!
